world aids day 2018
In order to remind people that HIV/AIDS is still a real health concern, Ernest & AHF created the World AIDS Day Concert. The concert brings top tier talent to the public to reduce the stigma of people living with this disease. The show is free to the public. Guests were able to get ticket upgrades by taking onsite HIV tests in the AHF Rapid test van. In 2018, this event was moved to New York and held at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem. Debbie Allen was given the LIFE OF ADVOCACY award and in honor of this a decision was made to honor the Icons of Dance that have passed away.
The talent for this event that Ernest booked were: Debbie Allen, Phylicia Rashad, Misty Copeland, Dance Theater of Harlem, Ailey II, The Syncopated Ladies, Jason Samuels Smith, Robyn Hurder, and “Dreamgirls” legend, Jennifer Holiday.
